In an online world, there’s still value in shopping in stores. Here’s why

shopping

We are living in the digital age with technology playing an enormous role in our day-to-day lives. Things that we once could only do in brick-and-mortar stores, from getting groceries to banking, can now be done online. This includes shopping and, according to recent statistics, 76% of South Africans have used or regularly use e-commerce platforms to make their purchases – a number which is predicted to grow by around 22% over the next five years.

It’s true. Being able to shop online is a huge convenience. You get to avoid the crowds and take your sweet time exploring what is on offer. Then, there’s the excitement of waiting for your package to arrive. There are, however, several downsides, from incorrect or damaged products being sent or items not living up to the description or reviews. There’s also no one to ask for help if you get confused and need some assistance aside from the occasional bot. These are just some of the (many) reasons that in-store shopping experiences still exist today and why they can be the preferred way to stock up on your necessities.
